Tim Noble & Sue Webster

Tim Noble & Sue Webster are two British artists who work as a collaborative duo.
They work alot with negative space, light and shadows which I´m working with myself right now and found these artists when searching for inspiration.

I like the way they use different shapes made of waste and bin materials to create shapes in the shadow on the wall.

This is kind of like a vase sculpture creating shapes of profile faces in the negative space

Duane Michals: photographer

Duane Michals is one of my absolute favourite photographers. I discovered him last year at a dull exhibition in Stockholm at Moderna museum, but when I came to a separate room with his photographs I were very captured and fascinated. I like hi´s photos because they have alot of expression, mystery, beauty and communicate in a different way than I´ve seen before. Sometimes he uses text into hi´s photographs, communicating directly to the viewer or tells a story, in a very poetic way. I like how he mix those types of media.

"It´s not just a matter of photography, it´s the way I view life in general. I view it as an incredible mystery and an amazement rather than just something to look at"

"It´s always been a matter of need. I think all the best impulses grow out of the need to express something."

- Duane Michals

Hi´s use of the effects with the camera are amazing and often tells a story. This one is the spirit leaving the body.

I love this one, its so simple but there is a sort of understanding, a recognition between the two characters in the photo.

This is a beautiful photo series which can be recognized in different ways. My way of seeing it is that the mirror reflects her way of seeing herself, it may reflect how she feels within. I think everyone has a different idea about themselves than other people do sometimes.

Duane Michals; guardian angels

I think Duane Michals has an incredible ability to capture the sense of death, mystery, desire, jealousy, stillness and understanding within his photographs.

Greenwich foot tunnel

This is a really long tunnel which is linkeed between Greenwich and Canary wharf. It is as u can see only a pedestrial tunnel and you wouldn´t wanna walk it alone, at least not me. Although it´s really cool to walk it, (as I´m very easily entertained) Walking underneath river thames in this tunnel, we took alot of photos and I really like the effect of the round circle shape.
Another fact to mention is that this is where they shoot 28 weeks later (the vampire film located in London) :)

LEATHER LANE

On the way to uni, I pass this street everyday. If you haven´t been, go there. There´s a market everyday and at least two real cosy cafées with the nicest laid back staff.

The invisible man - Liu Bolin

I were inspired about the "invisible man" project which led me to google "the invisible man"
I discovered this amazing artist from China - Liu Bolin, who is camouflaging himself with paint to melt into the environment he chooses. These series of work is called "Hiding in the city" At first it is even hard to realize he is actually there! He is present at the same time as he is absent.
I am interested in the reasons why he is doing this artwork. According to himself this is a protest against the Chinese government´s oppression againt modern day artists and their freedom to exercise their work.

Men´s fashion: details

Something i´ve always admired about fashion is the male fashion when it comes to details. It is different from womens fashion in the way that it doesn´t change so frequently, which makes the details even more important. I love socks, and wearing socks this way with the denim really shows character, I had to hunt this guy as he was walking so fast.

The mirror of judgement

This is a photo from an exhibition I´ve been to. The artist name is Michelangelo Pistoletto. It was exhibited at the Serpentine gallery in hyde park. The photo shows a room where the mirrors were angeled so that you had a different view depending on where standing in the room. This is obviously a metaphor.

About Me

My photo
London, United Kingdom
Im Emma from Gothenburg, Sweden. I live in London, and Stockholm. I study Photography at London college of communication after graduating from Central saint martins with Graphic design/photo which helped me develop alot and lead me to focusing only on photo. I find it inspirationable to study in London as I´m surrounded with lots of creativity and people with great ideas everyday. I find it important to be interested as a person to be able to do something interesting yourself. When it comes to art and photography I find it important to be open to recieve inspiration within any art form to create a broader understanding. This will make you more advanced within your own area of expertise. If your an actor, go and see dance, read books, go to exhibitions. It´s up to oneself how to develop that inspiration into something of your own. "The act of observing the experiment affects the experiment".
